Welcome to Et al. Essentially all the "and others" subjects and ideas I wish to write about. Perhaps in short, this may become the single source for all my rants, novellas, concepts, ideas and research I love to write about.
As I move forward with this blog idea I started about a month ago, I began to wonder if it was not more beneficial to compile all the subjects into one blog. This would take ad Imperia, Ekonomyz, Polytx, Faith Examined, Talk of War, as well as the others (most of which haven't been launched yet, into a one source blog. This would probably better from a marketing aspect, if I was to do such a thing, but for now that depends on accessibility as well as more importantly popularity, which I must acquiesce is certainly possible.
There would be Pro's and Con's to taking this direction.
Pro's:
Single source for information, although, Married with Asperger's would still be active, is it is more personal. A few of the other personal blogs may remain as well. In addition, a single source for updating. Although all of my blogs are located on Blogger, having one section that would be updated on a periodic basis could be more convenient for the author, i.e. myself.
Cons:
It will be difficult to nail down the theme and content of the blog, as the subject matter will be quite diverse, tackling all the previous subjects I have mentioned before. The blog would not be a nice compartmentalized list of specific subject matter that I can work in. When I am in Ekonomyz, I am only thinking in economics, the same would be with Polytx, Faith Examined, and the others.
The meaning of Et al. is essentially an abbreviation of the Latin Et alii, which simply means "and others", or even "and the others", "others" in this context would be myriad of subjects that interest me and would constitute this blog. Although the expression is used for citing to complete a list, especially of authors in academic papers, research and other published works.
Et al. could essentially become the "polymath" of my blogs, reflecting the diversity of subjects that I have studied in my life, and having one stage from which to perform my literary practice and obsession.
Considering I have about 10 blogs that I wanted to start addressing various subjects and issues, Et al. will combine these all into one blog
This effectiveness of the strategy remains to be seen. Output could definitely be far greater, potentially.
I will eventually need to decide if this would be the format I want to pursue, instead of having multiple pages and subject matter scattered among many blogs.
In the end, if i decide to go this direction, then this blog "Et al" will exist alongside Married with Asperger's.
We will see where this goes, as I put feelers out there to see if there is any demand for my material and knowledge. Also, Et al will serve as a catch all for any other various subjects I have not covered in the other nine or so blogs I have currently started.
Thank you for reading.
