Agora the Film, Hypatia of Alexandria and the Western Narrative

by Dwight Jeffress, Updated Jul 1, 2019 More than once in my life have I felt like this... When I feel that I reach the precipice of all the available knowledge I can comprehend and then I am quietly, yet sternly reminded, and humbled to realize there is so much more yet to uncover, to discover and to know. Think of it as climbing a mountain, reaching the peak, thinking you have accomplished a great feat, only to realize that a wide world around you has now been unveiled before you. Now, you see countless numbers of mountains and valleys you have not even begun to tread upon.  In the end, you realize how little you know. The journey continues... new lands, new ideas and new perspectives await discovery, another piece of the puzzle fits into place. The similarities about what we know about the ancient world and its changes echo eerily similar to our modern world.  History would again seem to repeat itself.  Are we to forever be imprisoned in this circle of misund...

The Syrian War, the Iraq War and ISIS, Part I

by Dwight Jeffress, Updated Jul 1, 2019 This was originally going to be a Facebook post, but then I reevaluated and figured it best to make this a blog post, simply because of its length. The following post I have written only skims the surface of a much deeper reality.  The future possibilities of the Middle East will have global repercussions.  We cannot ignore this region, and if we as a nation decide to involve ourselves in it, we must be very careful in how we handle our enemies as well as our allies. WARNING: Graphic content in the video link below. Some more on the recent conflict that just has settled for now in northwestern Iraq... There are a lot of players in this story...  perhaps some things we are not familiar with in the U.S. Three main groups... the Sunni, the Shia, and the Kurds, plus there are tribal loyalties embedded within that context.  The Sunni and Shia are different groups... or dare I say denominations within Islam.  Iraq, u...

Church Home, Home Church or just what exactly is Church? Part I

by Dwight Jeffress, Updated Jul 1, 2019 Matthew 9:13- "Then he added, "Now go and learn the meaning of this Scripture: 'I want you to show mercy, not offer sacrifices.' For I have come to call not those who think they are righteous, but those who know they are sinners."" Proverbs 21:3 - "The LORD is more pleased when we do what is right and just than when we offer him sacrifices." Repost from Facebook - "Definitely as I began to dig further into the history, there was a definite paradigm shift for me, and consequently my family as well. Many customs and traditions that the various churches I had attended over the years I had found at least odd, but I admit that at that time I accepted them because I trusted the institution (whatever church  was at that time), was following what they should have been doing... Inevitably, as I continued to dig deeper into the scriptures, as well as the multitude of subjects I researched, I continually ...

by Dwight Jeffress, Updated Jul 1, 2019 Is Less actually More? Welcome to Et al.  Essentially all the "and others" subjects and ideas I wish to write about.  Perhaps in short, this may become the single source for all my rants, novellas, concepts, ideas and research I love to write about. As I move forward with this blog idea I started about a month ago, I began to wonder if it was not more beneficial to compile all the subjects into one blog.  This would take ad Imperia, Ekonomyz, Polytx, Faith Examined, Talk of War, as well as the others (most of which haven't been launched yet, into a one source blog.  This would probably better from a marketing aspect, if I was to do such a thing, but for now that depends on accessibility as well as more importantly popularity, which I must acquiesce is certainly possible. There would be Pro's and Con's to taking this direction. Pro's: Single source for information, although, Married with Asperger's woul...
